Privacy policy
What Buyerlytic collects, how analytics and affiliate links work, and how to exercise your privacy rights.
Plain-language summary
We aim to collect as little as possible. We do not ask you to create an account. Analytics only load if you accept them, and we never send personal information to analytics services. Following an affiliate link takes you to a third-party site with its own privacy policy.
Who is responsible for your data
Buyerlytic ("we", "us") operates this website. For privacy questions or requests, use the contact page. A monitored contact address will be published here before the site begins collecting any personal data beyond standard server logs.
What we collect
- Technical logs. Our hosting provider records standard request data such as IP address, user agent, requested URL, and timestamp for security, abuse prevention, and reliability. These logs are not used to build profiles.
- Analytics data (only with consent). If you accept analytics, Google Analytics 4 records page views, approximate location derived from IP, device and browser information, and interactions such as outbound affiliate-link clicks. We configure IP anonymisation and do not enable advertising personalisation or cross-site remarketing.
- Privacy-friendly analytics (optional). If enabled, Cloudflare Web Analytics provides aggregate, cookieless traffic statistics. It does not use cookies and does not identify individual visitors.
- Messages you send us. If you use the contact form, we receive the name, email address, topic, and message you submit so we can respond.
- Local storage. A single key stores your analytics choice so we do not ask again on every page.
We do not intentionally collect special category data, and we ask that you do not send sensitive personal information through the contact form.
Cookies and local storage
Without your consent, this site sets no analytics cookies. When you accept analytics, Google Analytics may set first-party cookies used to distinguish sessions and measure usage. You can withdraw consent at any time using the control below; analytics will stop loading on your next page view.
This button clears the stored preference and reloads the page. It has no effect on third-party cookies already set by sites you visited through an outbound link.
Analytics and event tracking
When analytics is enabled, we record page views and a small set of interaction events: article views by content type and slug, outbound affiliate-link clicks (product identifier and the page the link was on), and search-result clicks. These events contain no names, email addresses, or account identifiers. We do not attempt to identify individual readers.
A click on an affiliate link is not a sale. We only recognise a commission through the affiliate network's own reporting, and we never match analytics events to individual purchases.
Affiliate and third-party links
Some outbound links are affiliate links. Clicking one takes you to the merchant's website, which may set its own cookies and collect information under its own privacy policy. We do not control those sites. Read our affiliate disclosure for how commercial links are labelled.
Why we process data
- Consent for analytics cookies and related event tracking, which you can withdraw at any time.
- Legitimate interests in keeping the site secure, preventing abuse, and understanding aggregate usage in a privacy-respecting way.
- Contract or pre-contract steps when you send a message and we respond to your enquiry.
- Legal obligations where we are required to retain or disclose information.
How long we keep data
Hosting logs are retained for a short operational period determined by our hosting provider. Analytics data is retained according to the retention setting in Google Analytics, which we configure to the shortest useful period (14 months) — you can request earlier deletion. Contact messages are kept only as long as needed to handle the enquiry and any follow-up.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal data, to withdraw consent, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Readers in the United Kingdom and the European Union have rights under the UK GDPR and GDPR respectively. California residents may have rights under the CCPA/ CPRA, including the right to know and delete; we do not sell personal information.
To make a request, use the contact page and describe what you need. We may ask for enough information to verify that a request relates to you, but we will not ask for more than necessary.
International transfers
Our hosting and analytics providers may process data in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where required, transfers rely on the provider's contractual safeguards. We do not operate our own servers.
Children
This site is intended for adults making business purchasing decisions. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Changes to this policy
We update this policy when our tools or practices change, and the "last updated" date at the top of the page will change with it. Material changes will be described on this page.
